KOURABIEDES WITH OIL (TRADITIONAL FESTIVE SWEETS)
• 2 kilos all purpose flour
• 1 kilo extra virgin olive oil
• 1 teacup rosewater
• 4 vanilla extracts
• 1 tsp soda
• 500 g chopped almonds
• 2 teacups of icing sugar (for decoration purposes)
• 1 wineglass of raki (traditional greek spirits)
We put the oil in an empty 1 ½ lt bottle and shake it till it turns white. We pour it in a bowl and add the rest of the ingredients. We blend until the sugar is dissolved and then we shape the small amounts of dough any way we like. We place them in a roasting pan and when the oven is heated we bake them at 180 C for about 20 minutes. We take them out of the oven and we let them cool a bit and then sprinkle them with half of the raki and then with the icing sugar. They’re ready.
